2 days ago, I stumbled on a verse that has been resonating in my heart and to be fair, I’ve heard this verse all my life but for some reason, this time, it seemed deeper than appeared on the surface. It’s been on my mind for 2 days now. And for anyone I’ve spoken too, it might have slipped out as we spoke.
“I have seen something under the sun; the race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favour to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.”
If you need to read it twice, by all means, please do. It is profound and just power packed. Here’s what came to mind as I read it. “if you are, does not mean that you cannot ‘unbecome’ and if you are not, does not mean you cannot become.
With all the guidelines society tries to throw at us, truth is life has no guidelines. As Falz said, “first class no be who collect extra sheet”.
By the worlds standards, the unspoken idea is that the person requesting for more sheets probably has longer and smarter things to write, but according to this verse and our dear Falz, quoting bible in another language, reverse is the case.
In essence, YOU CAN BECOME.
There’s no straight path or carved out path that if you don’t follow you die. God is the only one with the power to do that and He usually guides us through the journey and does not hand us the destination, because, the treasures are in and on the journey.
Because the fastest does not always win the race, the strongest does not always win the battle, the wise don’t always have food, the wealthy aren’t the most brilliant and the learned aren’t always the most favoured, You can win the race whether you’re the fastest, the strongest, the wisest, the richest, the most brilliant or the smartest woman in the room.
The only factor to winning the race would be ‘because you choose to’ not because something qualifies you to.
