The Dwelling

There was no way I was going to let November pass without a blogpost this month, even though I have exceeded my set number of blogposts for the year, I feel uncomfortable letting a month go by without letting you in on what Abba has been teaching me.

My devotional this morning gave me a beautiful summary of the last couple of months. It said “I want to live my life as a gift to God that says ‘I’m not here only to ask for something. Your presence is valuable to me. It is worth more than any goal or ambition I have“.

The last few months of the year have been interesting; daily dwelling and learning, nothing extraordinary, just simple hear and do. I started to realise that I had to be careful not to get caught up or carried away in sensational and supernatural Christianity, I have to be satisfied even with the seeming mundane and ordinary things which are just as important, so when I say I have been dwelling, I mean just sitting and listening because frankly, the world is very noisy these days.

2021 is seeming to look much like this for me, enjoying and seeing the power and presence in the quiet dwelling, and because I know how much it has done for me, I want to encourage you to do same, settle down, get quiet, get simple and just listen. Helps that retreat season is upon us, so let’s make the most of it.

Our daily living is what counts, not the randomised experiences here and there, so focus on the daily walk with God.

On a side note, I haven’t just kept away intentionally, I have been busy, I spent 2020 working on a 365 days devotional that is gender neutral and themed ‘An Intimate walk with The Holy Spirit’, it is due to launch at the end of this year and if I told you I was not excited, I would be lying, God really did this one, I refuse to take any credit for it! So I encourage you to also pre-order and remember to gift one or two to friends who are desiring spiritual growth in this season, it is the best gift we can give our world right now.

Hope you’re good?

I’ll just like to finish with my first thoughts of this morning, ‘the blessing is in the remaining, not what has finished or has been lost, but in the remaining‘. Just maybe this year was not all-that for you, remember that even if God will do something in the last few days, the something will come from the remaining, so as Elisha asked the widow, “what do you have in your house?”, I ask you, what do you have left? The miracle will come from there.

Here’s a cheeky peek at what the devotional looks like.

I’m glad you slipped in a November post! I’ve missed your presence here on WP.

Yours is the second post I’ve read today that exhorted me to slow down, be quiet and come closer to God—trusting his timing.

It’s also interesting, because my wife and I are starting our second week of quarantine due to her testing positive for COVID.

Perhaps this is a good time to draw closer to God, as you say.
    Blessings.
